The main aim of this meeting is to get people involved, inform them about the AVU and Bectu and discuss the unionisation of workplaces in the UK.

Pia Josephson, a VFX Production Coordinator and member of our Committee and Stefan Vassalos, BECTU Organising Official will be discussing the unionisation of workplaces. They will give a step by step guide of the process as well as the benefits of being in a union.

We know that the current climate of our industry has affected many so we would like to open the meeting to members and non-members in the hopes of reaching more people. And if you are not able to attend in person you can join us online via Zoom:

We are thrilled to announce that we have three distinguished speakers from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) who will be participating in a panel discussion. We're going to be hosting our May social get-together event at The Nellie Dean (Soho) pub on May 3rd from 7pm.

The social is a regular monthly informal get-together with the opportunity to meet like-minded invididuals in the industry who are passionate about continuing to make working in VFX and Animation better and healthier.

Bring your friends and colleagues! There is no need to be a member either to attend. It's the perfect time to ask the AVU about the union, what we're doing and the benefits of becoming a member. Not bothered about that? Then just come down for a drink and have some nice conversations about anything!

The Animation & VFX branch will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Central London. Here are a few important details:

Event: The AVU AGM

Location: Zero01 Studios, 1 Hopkins Street, London, W1F 0HS

Time: Doors 7pm for strict 7:30pm meeting start

Accessibility: Lifts are available via Westminster Kingsway College entrance on Peter Street. If you have any other accessibility needs, please let us know ASAP so we can accommodate them.

Refreshments: light snacks, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages

Special Guest Speaker: Ben Speight, Organiser of The Animation Guild

The Committee: We will be asking branch members to join our committee. Our ability to effect change is only as strong as our active members, so we encourage any and all to help keep this branch going.

Membership: non-members are more than welcome to join us for this fun evening so please share with your VFX colleagues!

Dear colleague,

This is an invitation to all Bectu members working at Dneg to join a Zoom webinar discussion tonight at 6pm.

The meeting will be chaired by Paul Evans, and Spencer MacDonald (Bectu National Secretary for London Production) will be guest speaker. The discussion will be focusing on the contractual changes recently proposed by Dneg management and the consultation process. Spencer will be advising members on how to take the consultation forwards.

Meeting attendees will be asked to participate in polls, which will be conducted as secret ballots through the zoom webinar account.

Please be aware that registration will close by 5pm to give us time to perform a membership check before the webinar begins. 

The meeting will start promptly at 6pm. We look forward to seeing some of you later.
